Water Concerto Performance with the Spokane Symphony Receives Rave Reviews

Maria Flurry performed Tan Dun's Water Concerto with the Spokane Symphony on January 12 and January 13. She received standing ovations at both concerts and rave reviews in the local newspaper. The ticket office reported that after viewing the first concert, some folks bought tickets for the second concert so that they could bring friends or family.

The Spokesman Review had this to say in Travis Rivers' review of the concert:
The concerto's three movements flowed seamlessly like water.

[Tan's] concerto proved to appeal as much to the eye as to the ear, and there was lots to watch. Even the reflection of the water's vibrating surface on rear of the stage added to the drama. For me, the water concerto proved an uncommonly successful theater piece. Flurry was a brilliant advocate for Tan's work.
